Fantastico pensare che solo nella Premier League, un quarto delle squadre partecipanti siano della capitale inglese e che nelle categorie inferiori ci siano così tanti altri club (e stadi!). In questo libro l’autore ne ha individuati 79. Tanti sono gli stadi, tanto le modifiche e migliorie prodotte negli anni: lo “Stamford Bridge”negli anni Ottanta aveva le tribune recintate con il filo spinato a causa degli hooligan del Chelsea mentre oggi non ha barriere tra tifosi e terreno di gioco; il “The Valley”, abbandonato con l’erba incolta e i tifosi che per amore del Charlton hanno ripulito la loro seconda casa facendo rinascere il Club; “Highbury”, demolito per costruirne uno moderno con i tifosi dell’Arsenal in lacrime per la perdita di un affetto profondo. Tanto per citarne alcuni. Per queste emozioni, per questi valori, per la mentalità… oltremanica, la passione per gli stadi del gioco più bello del mondo, sarà sempre condivisa da migliaia e migliaia di persone in tutto il mondo.

It’s amazing to think that in the Premier League a fourth of the participating teams are from London. There are also many clubs in the lower leagues (and stadiums!). In this book the author has identified 79. Many are the stadiums as also changes and improvements over the years: in the 1980’s, the stands of “Stamford Bridge” were fenced off with barbed wire because of the Chelsea hooligans, whilst today, there are no more barriers between the supporters and the field of play; “The Valley”, abandoned with overgrown areas of grass and the supporters who cleaned up their second home for the love of their club helping to re-start it up; “Highbury”, demolished to build a new modern stadium despite the tears of the supporters deeply attached to the old stadium. These are to mention but a few. For these emotions, these values, for the across channel mentality…, the passion for the stadiums of the most beautiful game in the world, will always be shared by thousands and thousands of people all over the world. 
A love that will never end.
